Golden Gate Point Association

Golden Gate Point is a neighborhood situated on a 22 acre peninsula in Sarasota, Florida, ideally located to enjoy all that Sarasota has to offer.    It is within walking distance of Sarasota’s vibrant downtown restaurants, shops, theaters, parks, and overlooks the inland waterway, Sarasota harbor and marina, and Ringling Bridge.

It enjoys easy access to Selby Gardens, St. Armand’s circle, Lido Key, the Ringling, and Sarasota’s many other attractions.

Golden Gate Point (GGP) has long benefited from active, involved neighbors and was the location of Florida’s first nonprofit corporation of property owners formed in 1955.    The current Golden Gate Point Association, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation,  was revitalized in 2001 to marshal community efforts for an enhanced Streetscape consisting of a redesigned roadway with brick pavers, new lighting, underground utilities and plantings. A public/private partnership was created with the city and GGP owners to finance and undertake the construction of the Streetscape.

The Streetscape was completed in 2009 after years of work by many dedicated GGP residents and city officials     These efforts were spearheaded by GGP resident and architect Brent Parker, and included many current and former GGP residents.

The Golden Gate Point Association (“GGPA”) considers and addresses community issues affecting GGP owners and residents.   It strives to keep GGP owners and residents informed about those issues and acts as a liaison with the city.    The GGPA organizes the neighborhood’s interaction with streetscape services, such as landscaping, street and utility maintenance.   It reviews and encourages further upgrading and beautification of the street.   The Association works hard to see that GGP is a well cared for and attractive neighborhood.

The Association has about 290 member households, meets regularly and sponsors neighborhood social events.     The GGPA’s underlying goal is to maintain Golden Gate Point as a beautiful, safe and friendly place to live.

Owners and residents of GGP are invited to become a part of the GGPA.
