Board Meeting Minutes   May 17, 2008

TPRESENT: John Dent, Denise Watermeier, Carol Kopeck, Ron Ward, Pat Hooley, Martha Luciani and Cory Fuller.

TREASURERS REPORT: Pat gave financial results of picnic. We lost $125 which was better than previous years. She asked Carol to put new member’s names in newsletter in a way that can be cut out and put in Directory.

MINUTES: It was moved by John Dent and seconded by Ron Ward that minutes of both the 3/15 and 4/19 Board meetings be accepted as presented. Motion carried.

PARK: John reported meeting was moved to May 27 at the Philippi Creek Mansion. GGP residents could attend, but it would not affect the outcome.

STANDING COMMITTEES:

Downtown Condo Assoc.: Ron reported that many GGP residents had emailed him the form to get Downtown Condo Assoc. information by direct email. He said that the downtown residents were in favor of green spaces in downtown area while the merchants preferred a more open area. The green space concept will be discussed at Monday’s City Commission meeting. The mooring field permits are available and he plans to keep on top of that problem. Denise discussed the large sailboat that was cut from its moorings and ended up against Alta Mer’s docks. No help was forthcoming from police or Coast Guard.

CCNA: Martha reported that everyone applauded when she announced that bids had been let for our streetscaping project. Most of meeting was a contentious debate over placement of lift station #7.

NEWSLETTER: Carol said she would get a newsletter out by end of June in time to publicize July Breakfast meeting.

BEAUTIFICATION: Clark Brink said he would head this committee again.

BUILDING CAPTAINS: We have to replace Lothar.

OLD BUSINESS:

Picnic: We had too much food and drink. Pat is going to talk to Poki Joes about cutting down number of side dishes and maybe getting more healthy choices. We discussed cutting out extra nibbles.

NEW BUSINESS:

Board Member: Three people have shown interest in joining Board. We decided to ask Joel McCague to replace Lothar as Building Captain and Beverly Albertson to take his Board membership until election at Annual Meeting.

Breakfast: We decided to use the Bird Key Yacht Club. Martha will work with them on menu and price. Denise said Jeff LaHurd from History Center would speak on history of GGP as part of the Sarasota history. John moved to give him an honorarium of $100 and Pat seconded it. It passed unanimously. We will invite Dick Clapp.

Flu Shots: Pat has arranged to have them given on October 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Martha will look into using lobby of Vista Bay.

John suggested we think about possibility of making membership in GGP Association mandatory.

Since there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

SINCE A QUORUM WOULD NOT BE RAISED, THE JUNE GGP ASSOC. BOARD MEETING WAS CANCELLED. OUR NEXT ASSOCIATION MEETING WILL BE THE BREAKFAST ON JULY 19, 2008.

DENISE WILL ANNOUNCE THE NEXT BOARD MEETING.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Kopeck, Secretary
