Golden Gate Point Board Meeting Minutes – August 15, 2009
Present: Board Members: Beverly Albertson (128), Betsy Henning (258), Martha Luciani (128), Brent Parker (136), Denise Watermeier (306); Treasurer: Pat Hooley (550); Building Captains: Kathy Zoellner (400).
Reports:
Treasurer’s — Checking account balance is $10, 294.43 as of August 15th. Eleven members joined since last month, and the annual breakfast generated $33 profit. M/S/P to accept the treasurer’s report.
Minutes — M/S/P to approve the minutes for April and June.
Streetscape Project: The contractor is on schedule for completion of roadwork, sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping by the October due date. Verizon and Comcast have completed installation of their equipment. FPL has started work for burying power lines.
Streetscape Celebration: Betsy relayed the initial plans for the Streetscape Celebration scheduled for November 14th, 2-5 PM. The celebration will be a block party with refreshments, entertainment and other activities provided the by Association, and residents asked to bring their favorite “finger food” hors d’oeuvres. The committee is evaluating several locations around GGP to serve as the gathering point for the party.
M/S/P to authorize the board to spend up to $1,500.
Committee reports:
CCNA: The City of Sarasota Parking Manager and several downtown merchants presented their views on the pros & cons of installing parking meters downtown. Note: The City Commissioners subsequently voted for the installation of parking meters. Several representatives discussed the formation of a citizens oversight committee to work with the Sarasota Police Dept.
Old Business:
Flu shots: Pat Hooley will be giving flu shots Saturday October 17, 2009 10AM – 1PM in the Phoenix lobby. There is no charge for residents presenting a Medicare card; the cost is $30 for all others. Registration is needed to plan for adequate supply so please notify Pat as soon as possible.
