The contractor has just about completed the new water line on the eastern half of the point, and is making the connection back out to Gulf Stream.
Thursday, December 18 is their last day of work before the holidays. They will resume work Monday January 5. So, during the holidays, while our road will still be a mess, we won't have construction work and trucks to contend with.

Starting early January and for the next few weeks, individual water lines will be disconnected from the old water line in the street, to the new line. (eastern half) These will be done building by building, starting nearest the entry, and proceeding around.
While the transition is being made, your building will likely be with out water for an hour or so. We'll try and keep you advised as to the potential schedule of these events.
We still awaiting the brick order form from the city, so you're not too late for a brick entry drive. As soon as we have it, it will be posted here!
This project is having a water "re-use" line installed. Reclaim water is not to our neighborhood yet, but will eventually arrive. When it does, the line around our point will already be in place and they will simply make the connection out at the entry.
If you have a separate meter for irrigation, it will stay as is, for now. When the re-claim water becomes available, you will be able to move your tap to the new source. Your cost for re-claim water for irrigation is about 20% of what drinking water costs!

For those of you considering having the city pave your driveway from the edge of the road gutter to your property line (or sidewalk) (all of which is in the right-of-way) the attached PDF drawing has been prepared giving you estimate areas of brick. (You have to zoom in to about 200% to see the area size in each driveway)
The city is drawing up a form (contract) for the upgrade which is about $70 a yard. We'll post the form as soon as it's available.

The landscape architect has prepared a tree removal and protection drawing Posted Here. We reviewed it with them last week, and had them make a few adjustments.
There are a number of existing trees, in the right-of-way "that are in the way". In some cases they are in proposed sidewalks or other "interfering" locations. Some have new utilities needing to pass right thru them.
We reviewed every tree. We've moved the sidewalks, sweeping around the trees, where we can. A few trees, it appears we can move, but there is always risk they won't survive, but we're going to try.
Others are simply in the way, and are not practical to move. The ones we've selected to move, in the landscaper's opinion, are the most likely to survive, and the most valuable to try and save. Small, insignificant specimens, that are easily replaced have not been selected to move.
The drawing to be posted shows, trees in the right-of-way to be saved (with a circle), trees to be moved (arrow), and trees to be removed (x).
We've spend a lot of time studying this. There are a lot of new trees being planted at the end of the project, that will be "grade A" specimens. Frankly some of the existing trees are near the end of their life, and probably shouldn't be saved, but it's always difficult to remove what appears to be a "good" tree.
So, please study the plan, and contacts us if you see any issues "in your front yard".
If you have trees marked for removal, and you want to attempt to move them (back onto your property), you can make those arrangements quickly. We have about 30 days before the contractor will start removing these, but we'll update that schedule as we know more.

Brick Pavers, inc. is the subcontractor to our contractor Woodruff and son, for all the paver work. For driveways you want done, in the right of way, see the 10/19/08 post.
However if you want your interior parking lots paved with the same pavers, you should contact Carol at Brick Pavers, Inc. at 371-2219.
We've heard rumors about someone canvassing the area soliciting work for the private parking areas. It's NOT Brick Pavers, Inc. They have not called on anyone.
They may send an email to the listed building captains of each building soon, just to let you know of the availability, but they are not canvassing the neighborhood.

Woodruff, our contractor is actively replacing the water line. They are posting no parking area where they are working. If you park there, you vehicle is at risk of damage. Please don't park in their work area. This may mean you have to walk some distance to your vehicle, if you are parking on the street.

If you condo is considering have you driveway paved with pavers matching the road, we now have the information .
A sample of the pavers is set up at the entrance where the entry road hit the circle (and where we had the ground breaking by the proposed park)
The cost of the pavers is $70 a square yard. There may be some additional demo cost, and/or permit costs, and there may be some small credit for demo on that portion of your driveway on the right of way. However for planning purpose, budget $70 a yard. (That's $7.78 a square foot)
So if you have a drive entry 24'x40' then your cost would be about $7,800. Each location will be "surveyed" by the contractor and an estimate provided. However we now need to hear from you soon.
The bricks need to be order very soon, so we need to establish which condos want to do this by about November 10. We're still working out details, but I expect you will need to put up half the costs now, when we order the brick, and the other half in a few months when we do the drives.
If your condo has electric gates, you may have some additional costs to replace the loops in the driveway, as they will get destroyed in this process.

The project has started. You will notice a lot of small flags, marking stakeout of utilities, and lots of painting on the road and walks.
The immediate work is the new water line. It will be starting at the entrance where our entry road T's into the circle. The work will proceed left, clockwise, in front of Marina View and pier 550 initially, for the first quarter section. The second quarter section will be in front of La Bellasara. The work will proceed in sections of 1/4 of the circle at a time, in approximately 2 week increments, for a total of about 8 weeks.
A total new water line is being installed, and the old one removed. The new one will be installed first, then incrementally each buildings service will be moved to the new one. Once there is no one left on the old one, it will be removed.
There will be small interruptions of water service, as your buildings "tap" is moved. Probably for a few hours. As the schedule develops, and we know more as to the timing of "disruptions", we will post it here.
This water line work is starting in the next few days. As each water segment is completed, then in that section, storm and sanitary sewer work will start.
